Workspace settings

Reference for General, Members, Memory, API Keys, Workers, and Activity settings.

Settings8 min read

Workspace settings control the identity, access, memory, imports, API keys, workers, and recent activity for one Cogno workspace.

Open settings

  1. Open the Cogno app.
  2. Select a workspace.
  3. Use the left sidebar and open Settings.

The settings sidebar contains General, Members, Memory, API Keys, Workers, and Activity.

General

Use General for workspace-level controls.

ControlWhat it changes
IconUpload, crop, generate, or remove the workspace icon.
NameRename the workspace.
Task importDrop one or more task CSV files and open column mapping.
Demo resetResets demo workspaces only.
Delete workspacePermanently deletes workspace data after title confirmation.

Workspace icon

Click the workspace icon to upload an image, generate an icon, or remove the current icon. Uploaded images open a crop dialog before saving.

Workspace name

Rename the workspace from the name form. The save action is available when the draft differs from the current workspace name.

Task import

Drop CSV files into Task import, or choose them from your computer. Cogno opens a review dialog before creating tasks.

Use Import task CSVs into Cogno when preparing CSVs.

Delete workspace

Deleting a workspace is permanent. The confirmation dialog requires the exact workspace title. Deletion removes notes, chat history, members, and workspace data.

Members

Use Members to invite and review workspace members.

ActionUse it for
InviteOpen invite options.
Copy invite linkCreate and copy a workspace invite link.
Add existing membersAdd people from your other workspaces.
EditRemove eligible non-owner user members.

The Edit action is available for workspace owners when there is at least one removable member. Owners and agent members are not removed through this list.

Memory

Use Memory for the workspace-wide summary that Cogno reads when it wakes.

ActionUse it for
EditSwitch from preview to Markdown editing.
SavePersist changed memory.
RevertReset the draft to the last saved memory.
PreviewLeave edit mode and show rendered Markdown.

Write durable facts, not temporary task status. Good memory content includes product scope, team responsibilities, naming rules, canonical links, and operating constraints.

API Keys

Use API Keys to create and revoke worker tokens for the current workspace.

PropertyCurrent behavior
Scopeworker
Raw key visibilityShown once after creation.
PrefixListed later as cogno_wk_<prefix>....
Limit25 active keys per user per workspace.
Revoke behaviorImmediate and irreversible.

See API keys for the full setup path.

Workers

Use Workers to monitor CLI worker liveness and recent agent work.

AreaMeaning
WorkersRegistered CLI workers and online state.
Agent workRecent dispatched work items.
RefreshReload worker or work item state.

Workers register when the root cogno worker daemon is running. Liveness is based on heartbeat. A worker that stops reporting within two minutes shows as stale, then offline.

Activity

Use Activity to review recent task changes in the workspace.

Each event shows the actor, task change type, task title, and timestamp. Empty activity means no task events have been recorded yet.

Operational notes

  • Invite members before importing CSV assignees.
  • Keep Memory readable as standalone Markdown.
  • Copy API keys immediately after creation.
  • Revoke unused API keys.
  • Check Workers after starting the root cogno worker daemon.
  • Use Activity when checking whether imported or edited tasks were recorded.

LLM handoff

When asking an assistant to diagnose a workspace setting, provide:

  1. Workspace ID or workspace name.
  2. Settings page name.
  3. Action attempted.
  4. Visible error text.
  5. Whether the user is a workspace owner.

Use Copy for LLM when you want to pass this settings reference together with the exact page names.
