The Inbox is where the loop reports back to you: someone mentions you in a task description, work on your tasks finishes or fails, or your machine can no longer run work. Open it, glance, jump to the task — then clear it in one action.

Open your Inbox

Select Inbox in the sidebar. Unread notifications show a count next to the entry (99+ once you pass 99). On a phone, Inbox sits in the footer bar. Notifications list newest first, grouped under Today, Yesterday, This Week, and Earlier. Each row shows who or what acted, what happened, a preview of the message, and the task it belongs to; unread rows carry a dot. On the desktop app, new notifications also raise a system notification (New notifications — N new items in your Inbox).

When a coding agent signs out

Queued work on your computer waits for sign-in instead of sending a separate Work failed notification for each run. You receive one machine notice per outage in each Workspace: Work will resume when you sign in again. Existing notification preferences and Slack delivery settings still apply. Update Cogno Desktop or Engine to use this automatic queued-work recovery. Sign in to the same coding-agent account on that computer. Cogno resumes the waiting work after it confirms that account’s recovery, with current access checks. Signing in to another account does not resume it. Work you stopped or cancelled does not restart. If the CLI continues to report a stale signed-in state, use Cogno’s native sign-in flow to confirm the new login.
Task comment threads no longer exist, so the old comment-mention and reply notifications are no longer produced — rows from before the change may still appear in your history.

Reopen the last Task from Island

On a Mac with Island available, click the empty Island to reopen the last Task shown in the small Task window (side peek). This includes a Task opened from a link or Island, a Task with an approval, or a recording’s meeting Task. Hovering only shows pointer feedback. On macOS 26, click again to fold an open Task window away. Island remembers this Task in the current Workspace while the app is open. Switching Workspace or account, signing out, or reloading clears it. Until you first open a Task in the side peek, Island remembers the most recent Task completion instead: the check appears for six seconds, and you can reopen its Task after it disappears. With neither a remembered Task nor a completion, clicking the empty Island opens nothing. When Island is showing an item, that item’s action takes priority. For older notifications, open Inbox.

Mobile notifications

Phone push notifications are limited to unresolved approvals, choices, and questions that you can answer to let work continue. Mentions, task creation, completion, and machine health do not trigger phone push notifications; existing Inbox entries remain. This currently covers task-linked work on a personal machine. Authentication recovery, sessions without a task, and managed work are not yet eligible. Delivery requires notification permission on your phone and mobile push enabled for your Workspace. Your installed app must also support answering decision notifications. Existing app versions do not receive these notifications. Explicitly postponing a decision schedules one reminder for your chosen time, only if the request is still unresolved. Delivery attempts expire after 15 minutes, or sooner if the decision has a deadline. A notification may not reach your phone; the unresolved decision stays in Core and is not automatically sent again.

Browse and act

Search or narrow to unread

Type into Search notifications to filter the list. Select Unread only to hide what you’ve read; it flips to Show all to bring everything back. Read rows stay in the list by default — reading clears the marker, not the row.

Open the notification

Select a row to mark it read and open its task in the side peek. A machine notification has no task — opening it takes you to Settings → Machines instead, where the details live.

Load older notifications

Select Load more at the bottom to fetch the next page.

Clear everything at once

When you have unread notifications, Mark all read appears in the header. It only changes read state — nothing is deleted and no task changes.
