At a glance
Connect Jira so each Project can choose the Jira projects it works in. Agent runs in that Project can then search and read those projects’ issues, and — if you allow it — create, edit, comment on, and transition them. Nothing outside the Project’s selected Jira projects is in reach.
Before you start
- You’re a member of the target workspace with a role other than viewer.
- You’re signed in to the Atlassian account that can browse the Jira projects you want Cogno to use.

Find Jira
Open Integrations and find Jira.

Authorize Atlassian
Click Connect. Cogno opens Atlassian’s authorization screen in your browser. Choose the Jira site and approve.

Confirm the connection
Back in Cogno, the Jira page opens. The connection row shows your site (for example
acme.atlassian.net) marked Connected.See the Jira projects Cogno can use
The Jira projects section lists the projects your connection can browse — each with its name, key, and type (Software, Business, or Service management) and a link that opens it in Jira. The connection row shows when the list was last refreshed (Last synced — or Not synced yet). Cogno fills this list right after you connect and refreshes it every six hours. To refresh it now, open the ⋯ menu on the connection row and choose Sync projects — refreshing takes a few seconds.Choose Jira projects for a Project
Connecting Jira doesn’t give any Project access by itself. Each Project picks its own Jira projects:1
Open the Project's settings
Open the Project and go to its settings, then find Jira under Project integrations.

Select Jira projects
Expand Jira and choose the Jira projects this Project works in under Projects.
A Project that has selected no Jira projects can’t reach any Jira issue: the Jira Tools refuse the call instead of searching the whole site.
Set agent tool access
The Agent tools section controls what Engine-managed runs may do through this connection. Choose Block, Ask, or Allow for each capability. Changes apply to the next run; disconnecting stops access immediately.
Under each capability, Tools lists the exact Tools it grants. The workspace setting is the ceiling: a Project can inherit or reduce it for this connection, but can’t raise it. See Set Workspace Tool permissions.
